JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator

Department: Operations

Reports to: Senior Manager Environmental Health & Safety

Effective Date: 4/24

Summary of Position:

The EH&S Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and executing programs, policies, and procedures for safety, compliance, health, and training. The role will help drive continuous improvement within EH&S. Reporting through Operations, the role will collaborate, communicate, and provide support across the organization.

Essential Job Duties:

• Coordinate, Create, and manage best-in-class company performance standards for safety, health, and environmental compliance.
• Help drive safety culture, charter, and mission. Providing internal messaging around safety and health awareness.
• Assist in establishing strategies for proactive and preventive means for reducing injuries and accidents and continuously assessing and reducing risk.
• Assist in ensuring all federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and codes are understood and observed, including timely internal and external reporting.
• Assist in tracking and presenting key EH&S metrics, and developing active improvement strategies.
• Assist in managing key EH&S programs; personal protective equipment, incident investigations, LOTO, confined space, job hazard analysis (JHA), safety training, internal safety committee, etc.
• Collaborate with the Operations team leaders (MFG, Sanitation, Warehousing, and Engineering) to execute safety programs, implement training, and evaluate both new and existing equipment and processes.
• Staying up-to-date with developments in EH&S standards and industry trends.
• Ability to work collaboratively with all aspects of the organization including departments outside of Operations.
• Help produce feedback for customer requests related to safety, compliance, and sustainability goals and strategies.
• Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and effective communication.

Preferred Skills:

• 1-3 years of experience in EH&S-related field.
• B.S./B.A. degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or related field.
• Thorough knowledge of safety and compliance regulations (OSHA, PSM, EPA, DOT, TURA, etc.)
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred.
• Experience in food manufacturing or general manufacturing environments.
• Awareness of GMP, SQF, HAACP, food defense, and other similar guidelines.
• Strong computer skills including email, MS Office, APSM, and Alchemy training software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for prolonged periods
• Wear proper personal protective equipment when necessary (hair net, beard net, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
